Easy Scone Recipe

This super easy scone recipe will soon become a family favorite. Of course, I've included my simple honey butter recipe too!

I know that there are a lot of different things out there that are called "scones". There are also different names for this type of scone. These are very similar to Navajo fry bread or Mexican sopapillas. At the fair, the make them as "elephant ears" or "tiger ears".

Scones

When you make bread, just save a little bit of the dough to make scones. Two foods with one recipe, it doesn't get easier than that.

Ingredients:S

bread dough
frying oil (vegetable oil, or shortening)

Directions:

Roll the dough out with a rolling pin. The thinner it is, the better they will turn out. Slice the dough with a butter knife to the desired shape/size.

Heat the oil in a pan on medium-high heat.

Tip: I like to use a pan with tall sides so that the grease doesn't splatter. 

When the grease is hot,  place scones in the pan one at a time. Brown on one side, turn over, then brown on the other side (you're aiming for a light golden brown).

Remove from grease and place on paper towel on top of a plate to cool and drain.

Honey Butter

Ingredients:

1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup butter

Directions:

Beat honey with butter using an electric hand mixer for 1-2 minutes on high speed.
