Easy Peach Cobbler Recipe

This easy peach cobbler recipe is the guideline and starting point for so many other great cobbler recipes. To make the deal a little bit sweeter this easy peach cobbler recipe is also one of the easiest "from scratch" recipes I have. So ... what are you waiting for? Let's get cooking!

Peach Cobbler

Ingredients:

1 quart (4 cups) peaches or peach pie filling
yellow, white, or vanilla cake batter from your favorite recipe

Directions:

Mix up your favorite cake batter (enough for a 9" x 13" cake, this is what most recipes make).

Line the bottom of a 9" x 13" with your peaches or peach pie filling. If you are using canned peaches, don't drain them. Spoon the batter on top of the peaches.

To bake the cobbler you have two main choices: conventional oven, or dutch oven. Keep in mind that baking times varies greatly based on how much liquid is in your peaches (the more liquid, the longer the baking time). The cake recipe that you use also plays a role in your baking time.

Conventional Oven: Preheat your oven to the temperature specified in the cake directions. The cobbler can take up to twice as long as the original cake recipe. Check the cobbler at the time specified by the cake recipe. If it is not done, set your timer for 5 to 10 more minutes (depending on how undone your cobbler is). You will know that the cobbler is done when you can insert a toothpick or knife into it and it comes out clean.

Dutch Oven: Everything always tastes better in a dutch oven. Simply heat your coals and line the top and bottom of dutch oven. Since temperatures vary depending on your oven and coals, I can't give you a specific baking time. Check your cobbler often so you don't burn it. You will know that the cobbler is done when you can insert a toothpick or knife into it and it comes out clean.

Variations

This recipe isn't just an easy peach cobbler recipe, it is also an apple cobbler recipe, and an easy blackberry cobbler recipe. You can use many combination of cakes with fruit. Just follow the directions above and replace the peaches with your favorite fruit or pie filling, then replace the cake with your favorite cake recipe. Let me show you what I mean...

• Cherry pie filling with chocolate cake
• Apple pie filling with a banana, or carrot cake
• Fresh blackberries with a white cake

Get creative, there are hundreds of delicious combinations.
