Easy Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

So what is the perfect easy chocolate chip cookie recipe? I guess it all depends on your tastes. I'm including this recipe because it's my wife's favorite.

We actually found this recipe on the back of a package of Nestle chocolate chips while we were looking for another great and easy chocolate chip cookie recipe to mix things up.

Nestle Chocolate Chip Cookies



Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

Original Version
2 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups (12 ounce) Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Light Version
3 1/4 cups whole-wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup applesauce
2/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1 1/2 cups Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Tip: Be sure to use high quality butter or margarine. Lower grade products such as vegetable oil spreads will greatly alter the texture of the cookies. If you want a lower fat version, try the light version here instead of using the low-fat butter substitutes.


Directions:

Preheat oven to 375° F.
 
Combine the dry ingredients in a small bowl. 

Beat the butter, sugars, and vanilla in a large mixing bowl until creamy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat into the flour mixture. Stir in the morsels and nuts. Drop by a rounded tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheets.
 

Tip: To make the original cookie recipe easier to work with, put the cookie dough in the refrigerator before putting them onto the cookie sheets.

 
Bake for 9 - 11 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
 
* May be stored in refrigerator for up to 1 week or in freezer for up to 8 weeks.

Variations:

To make bar cookies, spread cookie dough on a greased 15 x 10 cookie sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
