Easy Bread Pudding Recipe

If you like bread pudding your sure to love this easy bread pudding recipe that has been passed down from my Grandma, Louise Stirling, to my Mom, Shirley Jentzsch, and finally to me.

Bread pudding is one of those good old fashioned desserts that "hits the spot". The first time I talked to my wife about bread pudding, she hadn't tried it and she turned up her nose and said "yuck, I don't like soggy bread!". I had to assure her that it was not just soggy bread. In fact many people who would never touch soggy bread, love bread pudding (I'm one of them!).

Bread Pudding

Ingredients:

2 cups wheat bread, cut into cubes
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
2 eggs
1 cup chopped nuts
2 cups raisins
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 Tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon baking soda dissolved in t Tablespoon hot water

Tip: You can also use white bread.
Stale bread works well too.

Directions:

Mix all ingredients and spoon into a large tin can. Cover with tin foil.

Place in large pot of water, bring to boil and let steam for two hours.

Tip: It also works quite well to cook it for two hours in a double boiler.

Bread pudding is great hot or cold. You can also top it with ice cream, whipped cream, caramel sauces, or cream sauces (such as a vanilla cream sauce). Enjoy!
