Easy Banana Cake Recipe



Everybody loves banana cake. Try this wonderfully delicious and easy banana cake recipe. You'll be glad you did!

Tip: This is a great way to use up your over-ripe bananas!

Banana Cake

Ingredients:

2 1/3 cups whole-wheat flour
1 2/3 cups sugar
1 1/4 cups mashed banana (about 3 medium bananas)
2/3 cup margarine
2/3 cup buttermilk
3 eggs
1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup chopped nuts

Tip: Buttermilk can be replaced by putting 2 teaspoons of lemon juice in a measuring cup and slowly adding milk to make 2/3 cup. Let it sit for 5 minutes before adding to the cake batter.

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350°.

Beat all ingredients together until smooth, for about 3 minutes. Stir in nuts. Pour in greased 9” x 13” pan.

Bake for 45 – 50 minutes. Cake is done when you can insert a toothpick or knife into the cake and it comes out clean.

There are a variety of ways to top and eat this cake, let me share with you my favorites...

• Top with sliced bananas and whipped cream.
• Top with cream cheese frosting or vanilla frosting.
• Drizzle with a caramel sauce.
• Serve hot with ice cream.

If you use your imagination, new creations can be made with nearly any recipe. A cake makes a great start; the toppings and sides make it unique and give it flare. Experiment with different frosting, toppings, ice creams, sauces, fruits, etc. You can also try non-traditional toppings such as pudding or candy bars. If you do this, you'll never get bored!
